Please can anyone suggest good places to eat/visit near Rouen? We are staying just a few miles south for a few days at the end of this month.
Can recommend clicking on the link to the right for access to Marco's little black book, it's worth a look.

Made the Tear and Share. Delicious. In lieu of some of the flour I added four tblsps porridge oats. I attempted to put in in a 20cm tin but looked as if it was going to be too much of a squash so put it in a 23cm pan. Still turned out well. Was going to serve it with the BBQ we had today but forgot to put it on the table, so had it after the pudding with the lovely strong Cheddar.
You must try the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer. She actually managed to knock Harry Potter 7 off the top spot in the states. this series is good, but in my opinion not quite the genius of JK Rowling!
According to my son who thinks he is a shortbread connoisseur, Delia's shortbread is as close to shortbread perfection as any shortbread can get-praise indeed!

I've been looking to buy a Kenwood Patissier Food Mixer. The following site is the cheapest I have found on the web. Sells lots of other Household appliances and is free delivery.

Today for lunch I made Delia's Italian baked fish (from the cookery course, volume 1) and gooseberry fool with Greek yoghurt. What can I say? A delicious meal and all so easy to prepare.

Thought you might like to know that there are all now reduced to £1 each in ASDA on rollback, so if anyone wants to stock up cheaply I recomend a visit now.
Some other Dress items also rolled back to £1 too.
I want to recommend Co-Op Mayo
For a long time, I have bought CARBONELL(an excellent Spanish Olive Oil) from my local Tesco. They have stopped doing it. Can you recommend other Olive Oils - for everyday use and/or for special use - that you think are better than the average oil on supermarket shelves ... or maybe a mail-order oil?

Hi Meatloaf, here is a link to the Les Routiers website. Seems to be one in Calais, dock side. Talking with OH this evening our local one says the cost of a meal is 11.80 euros per person. I think I was thinking loosely of 15 euros per head including beer / wine. I have to say, when you find a good one, Les Routiers, it is pretty fantastic Has always worked out cheaper than we expected. Have a great trip. Biggs
we're going to Bristol overnight shortly. Does anyone have recommendations for a fairly basic B&B and places for carnivorous dairy-free/gluten-free eating, preferably using local produce?
If ever you're on a shopping trip to Calais, I can recommend lunch at Le Blanc Nez. It's about ten minutes' drive from Cite Europe with easy parking outside. They have a website with details.
Just received the following 2 recipes from our local pick your own and thought I would share.....

This follows my thread about the Ludlow Food Centre in Bromfield. After we'd finished there, we drove into Ludlow for an hour or so, just to see what else we could ferret back to Birmingham. Ludlow's a great little town, full of lovely little independent shops (and not too many chain stores), in particular some great butchers selling really wonderful fresh meat. We came back with a picked ox tongue ready for boiling, and some lovely oxtail, which I'll keep for a forthcoming dinner party. I also discovered some great cut-price fashion shops, where I picked up some lovely tops for £4 each - and loads of others at extremely affordable prices. Ludlow is, of course, home to a food festival (think it's in September) where they also have a Sausage trail - you go round all the butchers tasting their sausages and then cast your vote at the end of the trail for the one you think is the best. It's a real foodie paradise is Ludlow!
We have just arrived home from a morning and a bit in Ludlow, which included a visit to The Ludlow Food Centre which is actually just off the A.49, in Bromfield. It's absolutely fab and well worth a visit if you're ever in the area. Loads and loads of fresh produce (mostly locally produced and hand-made in their kitchens, and some wonderful other locally made products, e.g. English Cassis, fresh pasta, breads, fruit juices a butchery, pastries .... OMG, I thought I'd died and gone to heaven - well we both did really. Oh, forgot about the counter of super locally produced cheeses and other dairy products - ice cream, yogurt, milks, etc. They also have a Conservatory Barn Cafe, where you can get great breakfasts and lunches, at reasonable prices. We had a wholemeal bap filled with fried Old Spot bacon. There's also a small post office, and conference facilites on the complex. It's a great local enterprise, and you can check it out on www.ludlowfoodcentre.co.uk, tel: 01584.856000 We will certainly be going back.
FAO Dolly I made this in a souffle dish and put in the freezer. After thawing overnight, I piled some raspberries on top with a sprinkling of icing sugar and we had it straight out of the dish as a pudding with creme fraiche. It was delicious. Although we had it cold, I dare say it could be warmed through in the microwave beforehand.
Please can anyone help!! I want to treat my husband to a well earned night away after a trip to the Duxford Airshow I have planned for him on 12th July. Does anyone know of a village pub within about a 20 mile radius of Duxford Airfield which offers good accommodation, good food and of course, real ale?!! I'd really appreciate any help on this one!
Thanks
Donna
When I met my husband Bill about 21 years ago, the one and only recipe book he used was "Complete Cookery Course". I became a convert to Delia overnight and now we call many of the recipes within this bible of food, Family Favorites. I have lost count of how many times I have made Baked Spinach with Brown Rice and Cheese, but tonight I made it with a twist. A neighbour gave me a huge pumpkin last week-end (it is winter here in Australia) and I thought , lets try pumpkin instead of spinach. While the rice was slowly cooking, I roasted about 450-500grams of pumpkin cut into chunks until tender and browned. I also cut up 4 rashes of bacon into small pieces which were fried until just turning crispy. I cooked some sage leaves in butter until crisp. When the onion and rice were cooked after the 40 minutes, I just added the pumpkin, bacon and sage along with the other ingredients in the original recipe. It is the same recipe really but tastes different and delicious. Thank you Delia for the original inspiration and for giving me the confidence to chop and change recipes to take advantage of seasonal produce.
