Made these for Easter. Went down a treat! Very tasty, not that much work considering we can't get them here, well that taste anything apart from a dry loaf of flavorless bread.
Best recipe for them I've tried yet.
I agree, used to use the Beero recipe but these are even better!
When I was a young girl hot cross buns sold in the US were fruity and tasty (honest), but sadly for the past 15 years, or more, store bought buns have been dry and bland. A real disappointment to be sure.
As Delia says, homemade hot x buns are SO much better. The first time I used Delia's recipe my family, as well as my sisters' families decided I earned the job of baking them each and every year. Which I gladly do so we can enjoy real hot cross buns!
Poppy
Don't feel too bad Poppy, our Hot Cross Buns here in Australia are also "not the best". I absolutely refused to buy them this year. Discovered Delia's recipe too late for me to make them. However I have printed the recipe and put it into my file, and next Easter Sunday, I will definitely be making them.
