Hi everyone.(first post)
For the past few weeks I have been buying an oat bread loaf from the local TESCO. Last week I went to buy one and was told it had been discontinued thru' lack of sales. I loved the texture of it ,and miss it terribly!. Has anyone got a recipe I could try. I have a Panasonic bread machine I could disinter, and dust off.
NTF,
Cannot help with the above but am sure someone will answer...there are a lot of breadmakers on this site.... just wanted to say welcome to the site and enjoy.........

I do not have a panasonic machine, but I have an oatmeal wholewheat recipe and an oatmeal yoghurt recipe.

Hi Nero - this recipe is from The bread Book by Sara Lewis. I haven't tried it but I have a Panasonic & the quantities look about right.
1 1/4 tsp fast action dried yeast
475g strong wholemeal bread flour
100g rolled oats
2 tblsp butter
1 1/2 tsp salt
4 tsp sugar (recipe says molasses sugar)
350 ml water
1/4 of a 1000mg Vit C tablet (I'd use a tsp of Vit C powder)
It says use wholewheat/large setting.
Let us know if it's any good & I might try it! I have another recipe for a maple & oatmeal loaf in Jennie Shapter's Bread Machine Cookbook. Have fun!
Nerothefiddler - it doesn't half annoy me when shops do things like that through, as they say "lack of sales". Sainsburys used to do a "bake your own" wholemeal loaf. which was absolutely delicious and I bought it every week. All of a sudden it disappeared from the shelves and I eventually got them to cough up that they had discontinued it because of "no demand". But, hey, I'm demanding it!
Hope it hasn't been discontinued as that's the one I buy and love - I got it on Wednesday so perhaps it's just your local branch??????
Would like to thank you all but do not seem to be able to post reply. here goes for fourth time!.
Elpe, sorry for the delay. Have just tried your recipe in a Panasonic machine. It came out perfectly.Have also subsituted white flour, but used olive oil instead of butter, with excellent results. I did use an extra ingredient called a' bread improver,' from Home Baking Supplies. I will not be useing it again as I noticed it contained hygrogenated veg oil. I sent for it some time ago in an effort to stop turning out bricks!.
Thanks
Mike
