I found the article funny and informative from a historical perspective- what people ate in the 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th centuries down to WWII & the 1970s

Bramble, we all have to drink more booze, avoid plaguey water and eat more swans. Pity there's no room on the planet for an Upper Palaeolithic diet.
In my great-grandparents diary they wrote what they ate. This in 1879. For breakfast they very often had mutton chops with eggs, bread etc. Lunch would be something like a meat pudding or pie with veg, and pudding after. Then dinner would be three courses starting with soup, then a meat and veg, then pudding. How they ate it all I have no idea ! They were living in Argentina at the time so was hot and humid. She was very slim in photos so perhaps she didn't eat it all .... oh and before dinner they always had a cocktail - don't know of what tho.

So basically whats gone wrong is our own idleness, that is making the UK fat and obese.

You're welcome folks. Gerry, I agree with you, I wonder what the food police will make out of the eating habits of the past. It also goes to show that people did move around a lot.

My village has around 450 population. Hardly any of them are fat, just a sprinkling and seem to be in the same families.
