Most of us don't have the time to visit various supermarkets, comparing what's on offer for price and taste, but a brilliant new website, www.supermarketownbrandguide.co.uk has done it for us, listing over 1800 brands, from Aldi to Waitrose.
On this no-frills site you’ll find over 1800 products road-tested for taste, appearance and value for money. A traffic-light system flags up salt and fat content as red, amber or green, and info is given if a prod contains milk, gluten etc. Vegetarian, Fairtrade, organic and freefrom can be selected when searching.
You can search by supermarket or by product and compare what's on offer - prices are included as is information about competing brands, to allow you to make the best shopping choices. It's also easy to look down the column to see what mark out of 10 a product was given.
Some of them may even surprise you... Lidl, for example, scores very highly for chocolate, jam, smoked meats and fish and potato salad - hardly surprising for a German company, but it's precisely this type of useful information which makes this such an invaluable site - it's an expensive business to go round sampling each supermarket's foods, so here it's done for you!
Basically, you'll eat and drink better (and more cheaply) with www.supermarketownbrandguide.co.uk
