We spent yesterday in Cardiff and had a great time.
Recommendation1: the County Hall Park&Ride. Follow signs to Cardiff Bay and Park and Ride and you end up (eventually!) at County Hall. Lots of parking spaces, free, and a bus which takes the carload into the middle of the city for £3 the lot.
Recommendation2: restaurant Le Gallois. It's a French restaurant, quite swanky. The staff were most welcoming and the service and food were superb. It was recommended to us by the Independent 50 Best places to have Sunday Lunch! The four of us had aperitifs and a three-course meal; the adults had good wine, and the bill was about £25 a head which felt very good value for the standard of food provided. And they were most helpful with the milk and wheat allergies, rustling up a raspberry sorbet and fruit salad for pud, and adapting the rest.
Ten out of ten! However, it was a slow relaxing meal, not a fast one.
Sounds good place - always nice to have restaurants recommended. But one small point, your last line sounded a bit negative ... Good meals are meant to be slow and relaxing ... otherwise you could just go to McDonalds !!
Hi,
I'm originally from Cardiff. Cardiff Bay is beautiful and yes they have some swanky restaurants. I am thinking of going to cardiff bay to go on the boat ride which takes you across the water i beleive to Penarth. was there last year and i visit cardiff quite alot to go shopping and visit family. Nice place but very expensive to live. a flat can cost half a million pound, there is some other things about cardiff bay that is not all good but i wont say as it is not the forums to discuss.
Glad you had a nice time and enjoyed your meal. ;)
