I want to recommend Co-Op Mayo
I usually buy Hellmans, which i personally don;t like i find it too acid, or Tesco and or Sainsbugs own brand.
But was in my local Co-Op the other week, and as i knew i was running out, i got there own brand bottle.
Its in a squeezy tub, with the lid on the bottom...its made from free-range eggs, suitable for Veggies, and made from Rape Seed Oil (which i LOVE), it is made in Belgium, so not good for the old "food miles".
But i have to say this is the best Mayo, I have brought and tasted, it has a nice light semi creamy taste, not headachy, or acidy, or anything....
Apparently per 15ml (a dollop) its 115 cal, 12.5g fat (so its quite high), 0.2g carbs (which is low), and 0.2g salt (which is medium).
The 500ml bottle i have apparently does 33 servings of 15ml (a dollop)...I am afraid I can;t find the recipe to tell me how much it was, but i think it was about £1.20...but don't lambast me, if i am wrong.
Sammy
The Belgiuns love mayo not not suprised it is good!
Now on my list for co-op shop sam - thank you!
Thanks Sammy - I only pop into the Co-op very occasionally - but they do some really good things - such as only stock free-range eggs (well my local one does, anyway)...I'll have to try the mayo...
Thanks for the recommendation!
I'm getting a complex about the Hellmans in my fridge. Think I'll have to sling it out and try others to see what I'm missing!!!!
I find the Hellmans a very Americanised mayonnaise (for obvious reasons). The Tesco and Sainsbury's French-style ones are closer to what it would taste like if you made your own, although I am by no means saying they come close........I just can't be doing with making my own these days.......
I'll stick to the Hellmanns thank you.
