Can anyone suggest a substitute for Seasoned Pioneers African Tsire powder. (West African groundnut stew) I can't find it, and don't want to buy a whole set of spices from Lakeland.
Be grateful if someone can advise

This looks lovely but sadly my husband doesn't like lamb.
I was wondering if anybody had tried it with pork (possibly the fillet). Anybody think it would work?
Are you Cheating outside the UK - how do you fine it - I can get quite a few of the ingredients here or good substitutes - the one thing we lack though is ready made pastry cases. I have done about 35 of the recipes -great book.

My talented husband has just made Vietnamese beef patties plus cracked potatoes with melting cheese & spring onions, with green salad. Deeelicious! The red wine served with it was great too.!
.We have a new listing in the Cheat Product list for small shops around the country that are stocking cheat ingredients. Kendrick Street Deli in Stroud. Full details can be seen by clicking on the Cheat logo, then Product list, then small shops and delis.
Saw this recommended a few days ago, hadn't tried it so bought in the ingredients at the weekend. had it tonight and it is very good and doesn't take long to put together! I used cider instead of white wine and it worked perfectly, will definitely do it again.
As you know, Delia uses the aunt bessies frozen mash in a couple of the recipes in the latest book. its about £1.70 for 650g. I suspect Delia chose this brand over others because it has not nastry ingredients, its just how you would make mash at home.
Well, when Mum was down, we went out shopping. She did her usual of insisting we visit every shop within a 20 mile radius.............

Hi Sunlover,
Sorry for not reply to your query straightaway as I have been busy.
With regards to the mozzarella in the festoni w/ smoked sausage recipe. I just used grated mozzarella- the one sold in packs. I just sprinkle it on top of the pasta, add some grated parmesa and bung it in the oven for 20-25 minutes as per Delia's instructions.
Hope this helps & apologies again for the late reply.

Did this last night. Dead easy and tasted fab!
Has anyone tried making this? I did for dinner last night and OH liked it very much. I used Matheson's smoked sausage in place of the chipolata or kabanos, worked well with the Dress italian sauce. Instead of festoni, I used conchglie.
Am planning to stock up on more dress Italian sauces and I'd heartitly recommend this dish!
is absolutely scrummy! I think it's one of the best in the book!
Not quite as planned - couldn't get the Blue Dragon Lemon grass so used Barts dried. Didn't put it in mini chopper just in the sauce whole and then removed as per the recipe on the jar. Even so it was still a very easy way to perk up a chicken breast and I'll certainly do it again.
Couldn't buy this in Tesco's or Waitrose so bought Barts instead. It looks like dried lemon grass - can anyone tell me if this is what the Blue Dragon is like?
What a doodle - so easy and even had the wow factor.First time I ever made anything like this.
Great.

They are okay but nothing special. Because of that I didn't bother to waste the mango and make the sauce. Can use that for a smoothie.
I used fresh, but would have no prob using frozen, however, it was delicious!!! Really tasty!!!
Mmmmmmmm!
Thought this might be too sweet for us.So put off trying it. Will be making it again very soon. m&s toffee sauce not sickly ,so will have to try it with other deserts. An ideas please ? Have you all tried the Chocolate Truffle one ? Wow!
Wow, wow, wow (not Kylie this time!) but the most delicious
fast supper I have just had with my mum who is visiting.
Just brilliant - can highly recommend. Never had frozen sea bass before - AND then cook it from frozen. Such a whizz. The Dress Italian (I've become such a groupie for Dress Italian) Red Pepper & Pesto is fabulous. So if like us you only have 15 mins to put a really excellent supper on the table - we had been holiday shopping (very nice that was too!) - we had it with couscous (ready purchased from M&S and a lovely bag of salad. Highly recommended all. Off on our hols now to sunny Greece - bye folks.
Tried the Spag Bol for tea. It was OK but it still had that taste of something that's come out of a tin. I don't mean I never use tinned stuff - I use tinned tomatoes all the time for example. But with something like minced beef, as soon as it goes into a tin, other things have to be added such as thingydextrose or whatever it is and even if it's M&S, the flavour is impaired. I now have a taste in my mouth which I wouldn't have if I'd made it from scratch.
pil pil of course
Anyone else done this? I did it today, with lovely fresh large raw prawns, but it didn't taste as I wanted it to taste. Somehow the garlic didn't come through, I don't know why. Used fat ones as per recipe. I wondered if it might help to steep the garlic in the oil a bit first. Praps it's just us and our taste buds today, but was disappointed. Anyone have any thoughts or tips?
Just made Spanish tuna salad with peppers, olives & artichokes. Absolutely lovely. Don't be tempted to miss any of the ingredients out as they all play a definite part. Highly recommended.
Having braised steak with mushrooms and madeira sauce for supper later.

One of Matty's requests this week is for a Spag Bol and as I knew I was passing an M&S yesterday thought I'd try Delia's. So that's on the menu for some time this week. Couldn't believe how much the mince was though - £2 a flippin' tin! The Dress sauce however is on offer this week in Asda - down from £1.64 to £1. had to steal the 2 tablespoons of red wine from OH's bottle when he wasn't looking and popped it in the freezer. Tee hee.
How easy could this be? Assembling the ingredients, mixing all of them together, pouring mixture into the tart case, baking, cooling. Hey presto! It does look & taste good as well.
Will definitely make this again- this time with meringue.
Watched and loved Delia's 'How to Cheat' program on telly. Decided to make the spring rolls for my ladies' bridge night as an alternative to sandwiches. First stop Waitrose - managed to get all ingredients except for the spring roll wrappers. Proceeded to Tesco, Sainsbury, Morrisons, Costcutter and Co-op. None of these stores carried the wrappers. Costcutter and Morrisons were on Delia's cheat product list. What is up with this? BTW, I made the 'thick onion tart w/cheese & sage' on pg. 205. Delicious!!!
