Catdog, you can literally grow any fruit/vegetable in a pot. What vegetables do you want to grow? I can be more specific as to growing instructions then.
Like Meaty says, you can grow a whole varioety of fruits and veg in pots. Obviously you are too late for growing too much at this time of the year. you really need to sow seed february march for cropping now through to september, depending on the gloucester climate, and wether you have a sheltered but sunny part of the garden/balcony/terrace etc.
don;t grow too much of one thing, and only grow what you like, and what you would eat, unless you can do swapsies with friends family or neighbours.
You came to the right spot to ask about gardening.
Just ask, and you should get some really helpful advice, many of ud do grow our own, out of all sorts of pots and containers.
But basically to answer your question almost anything goes.

Hi, as above but cucumbers and peppers will grow well in pots the size you mention. Might put 2 - 3 peppers in such a large pot though. Lettuce, nasturciums, tomatoes, especially the smaller cherry varieties. Happy growing. Biggs
Hi catdog777
I haven't bought it myself but I do know that there is a book called "Crops In Pots" possibly on Amazone, which is supposed to be very good.
