My runner beans have been fantastic as have the courgettes, have learnt a lesson and will not have so many courgette plants next year. 10 was excessive now I think about it!! Very disappionting chilli plants as are the aubergines. This is the first year I have grown veg and I've now realised I'm too late for winter veg....can't believe it. Generally the garden could do with a good tidy up but hasn't it been wet. Not really done much for a few weeks. Amazing how neglected things can look in such a short space of time.

My faithful Rosemary bush has died. Don't know why but it's a good 10 years old (it's in a trough.) Time for a new one and I could do with some new thyme, sage, etc. Do I get them now, or wait until Spring?

Watching the sprouts growing, hopefully we will have some for Christmas. Runner beans were a huge disappointment, the French beans, excellent. Still picking the occasional strawberry. Not sure when to dig the celeriac up.The round courgette plants still have something to offer, much slower at producing crop than the usual one. I wish I liked cabbage a bit more, they are doing really well. OH still has 2 lines of tatties to dig up. Then, I think we ought to prepare the veggie plots properly for next year.
The mole(s) is having a field day, my next trick is to cut some bramble and try and insert the lengths into the tunnels, apparently they don't like it. I can't quite bring myself to use an explosive device. I wouldn't mind so much but the moles have plenty of fields all around, so why pick on our garden, well field really !

Liz, it's probably worth having a look in your local garden centre and see whats on sale but you may have to wait until spring.

bit of a mixed year for growing, but put over one of 3 allotments to cutting flowers, and reaped enough within 2 weeks to cover the rent of all three allotments. Has anyone grown the white cucumbers that taste like melons? Any ideas for different veg to grow - on a London allotment?
