My aubergine plant is about 2 foot high and about 18 inches wide.

I have about 8 aubergines on it...I have been ruthless and halved the amount of fruits to encourage these ones to grow.

Well, I have doubts abouts my aubbies...they look very peculiar....they are the lovely aubbie colour, well more normal purple than the dark colour, they are mainly between one inch and 6 inches long......now thats my problem....they look like bananas in shape, not fat if you know what i mean, the picture on the seed packet is a "normal" looking aubbie...is this normal, or do I have odd aubbies, and when are they ready, if i have a weird variety.

Thanks

Hoping someone can help me

Sammy

Hiya Sammy. Sorry I can't give you any advice but would like to say you are doing better than I am. My aubergines have been sooooo disappointing, No fruit at all....not even banana shaped ones!! The flowers keep falling off before they are able to produce anything, there is JUST ONE flower hanging on in there, fingers crossed! x

I grew the plants for a couple of years, but never could get aubergines from them, they flowered and the fruit set, then fell off. I put it down to us being too far north. A pal of mine who went to gardening college couldn't get hers to fruit either, and she has well-green fingers! I think she got one tiny one.

You're doing very well Sam! Are they in your greenhouse?

We usually have no problems growing them in our greenhouse - but this year!! All that coldness has done nothing for the plants. Ours are teeny and it`s now too late in the season for them to grow. The sun would swell them up..
