I know there is excellent advice in the Winter Cookery book, as to how to time a perfect Sunday Roast, but am surprised that Delia has never done a book on how to achieve this and attend a morning service in church.

Do mutton or slow-cooked lamb. As Hugh F-W says, the longer the sermon the more tender the meat. Seriously, feeling flippant because of lunchtime wine (Tony's birthday).

Early morning mass?

Seriously, I think it has to be Church by 10.00 a.m. latest if you want to present a traditional roast lunch.

Can't you just eat later? We usually eat sunday lunch about 3pm.

I think you need to lobby for 8.00 communion - or go to evensong instead?
