Has any one used silicone muffin tins to make yorkies? Am unsure if the temp of the fat might be too much. Have got metal tins so it is a general query .Xx
You are supposed to be able to Tilly, but mine just melted even though the packaging said I could go much higher in temp that I was..........
It wasa right pain to clear up............

I don't know tilly but how can you make yorkies in a muffin tin? Surely because the sides are straight and high, it wouldn't work? Only asking as I did contemplate it on Friday night.

Tilly - I've said this lots of times - you can put molten metals - tin, pewter - in silicon without harming it - I've no idea what happenned to James's but it shouldn't
Silicon bakeware does, for some strange reason, make amazing yorkshire puddings! I always use the recipe which requires equal volumes of eggs, milk and flour - just crack two eggs into a teacup, remember what level they come up to on the side, then add the same amount of milk followed by flour and beat together.
The yorkshire puddings this makes are always massive big puffy fluffy things.
Ds, I make my yorkies in a kenwood muffin tin, they come out wonderfully. Six huge ones instead of 12 little ones.
yummy yummy!!!!!
Jeni - I think it serves me right for buying it in woolies!

I'm going to try that James - thanks. Went to make my yorkies on Friday and realised I'd thrown my sandwich tins away cos I always use springform tins for cakes. Forgot about yorkies.
After years of disastrous yorkshires, I now always use Nigella's Chinaman's recipe. They are always fabulous. Met a Yorkshire lady on holiday few years back whose secret was a splash of vinegar in her mix so I always do that as well. She lived in a village called Idle and lived next door to the Idle Working Men's social club which I thought was hilarious.
