Hi Cupcake, just wondered if things have gone off into the stratosphere or whether you're chugging along at a nice even pace? Hope things are going well and that you are enjoying your new venture.

Hi Liz! Chugging along and would love it to off into the stratosphere - which I know it will & I'll be ready for it. It's amazing how much work there is to running your own business. I have no experience in sales and marketing and that when you start is key. So I'm learning as I go along.

What I have noticed is that everyone wants cakes, birthday cake, wedding cakes & 'tipsy blackberry & apple cupcakes'. Unfortunately, I don't do birthday cakes (ie:sugar crafting, characters etc) & my kitchen is not really suitable for a cake making business from home.

I have had lots of requests for my cupcakes so I thought how can I give this service to the ladies you love cupcakes.

So I am about to launch a new service from 'the cookery Angel' and that is

'the Cupcake Diva girls' time in' where the grown up girls can bake their cake and eat it! in their own home.

The ladies get to wear retro inspired 'Jessie Steele' aprons (as seen on Oprah & Desperate Housewives), they get to bake some decadent cupcakes and if there's any left they can take some home in a box tied with gorgeous ribbon. I think hen parties may like this idea as I've noticed lots of ladies do the clubbing, the weekend away & then something more serene like afternoon tea or whatnot. So hopefully cupcake diva parties may take off.

I'm working on postcard layout and fonts this week and will be getting them printed shortly. I will update my website when that is sorted.

Also, my page story in 'My Weekly' should be out very soon (not sure when) so that will be a bonus. I'll let you know when it comes out.

Liz, I've really missed being on Delia forum. I do check it out as much as possible but don't get to post very often. Thank you for asking about the business and I will try and post when I can. xx:)cupcake

Keep us updated Cupcake... it's good to hear that things are progressing. Sounds like you should find someone who does do birthday cakes to be part of the package. People just want a one stop shop these days and will be only too glad if you say, I don't do the birthday cakes personally, but my cake making colleague does them for me.

That sounds like a fabulous idea for a hen party and probably a lot cheaper than the average hen celebration a "weekend away in Barcelona"!!! Hopefully it will also stand the soon-to-be-brides in good stead on the baking front!!!

Congrats and well done cupcake....glad it is going well for you...
running your own business is not easy....have been doing so now for 32 years and it does not get any easier....we are shortly moving into new premises.....it will be chaos for 2 weeks whilst we move all our equipment, machinery etc....but the new building is fabulous, looks like a big hotel...it has a lift and shower facilities....and it will be great to have the extra space, much needed.....

Honey, I like your idea of being a one-stop shop. I've met lots of brilliant ladies at networking events and recommend them to people. As yet, I've not met any cake makers etc. But will be on the lookout for one. I've a couple of big networking events coming up in the next few weeks so I'll ask around in case anyone knows of a brilliant cake maker.
