I have just made a bananna and toffee loaf,it is cooling as i write,it smells divine might have to try a warm slice.Am I a twit as I always get excited when I try a new recipie!

Christmas Cake & Mincemeat everytime. I can't wait to taste knowing they both need to mature...But the spicy smells--- agony on a rumbling tummy!

Ohhh......Choccygill have you the recipe? have some bananas going a little ripe and on a horrible day like today could do with some nice smells going thro the house

Hi janjam found the recipie on the bbc good food site, its also on www.thejoyofbaking.com as bananna streusal bread. chopping the toffees is a bit of a pain but if it tastes as good as it smells it will be worth it. think it must be cool enough to try now!

Greece. calimari, Greek wine and George?
I've just made Delia's chocolate beer cake and it's cooling as we speak, smells wonderful (and the batter tasted good when I licked the beater! I used Murphy's, it was cheaper than Guinness. Oh says I'm a stinge.

Let me know how it tastes Liz might have a go myself, I have this vision of George smeared in chocolate cake on a greek isle with calamari, champagne a million quid and me!!!!!!! oh yes and we go to sainsburys as well!!!!! X

gill - you can smear the top half with chocolate cake and keep yourself busy. i'll have the chocolate free half and I'll keep myself (and George) busy. :o) feeling a lot happier now at the thought of a sunny Greek sesh!

Hi Gill, I always get excited when I'm trying out a new recipe too.
Since I broke my ankle last month, I've had to get my food delivered so I got very excited this week when my husband took me out food shopping.
Now that is sad-LOL!

Always get excited thinking about George - and chocolate too come to think about it.!!!!!
Made a 'fruity north African salad' today for the first time. It looks ok but haven't tried any yet. Thought it would go with griddled lamb leg steaks (1/3 off in Sommerfield today) Then I saw that I had 1 sad lonely egg about to go out of date, so I made a light fruit loaf cake.
Hope none of you got too wet today.
